OUR COMMITMENT

Medical Aid Supply
In collaboration with various non-governmental organizations (such as Living Room International), local medical facilities, and individuals, we help people with physical disabilities access aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, orthoses, and prosthetics. Social workers, clinical staff, and therapists assess the individual's social situation and evaluate, together with the person and their family, which aids are needed. The aids are then demonstrated by professionals and, if necessary, adjusted to meet the individual's specific needs.
Financial & Medical Support
In collaboration with Kenyan social workers and clinical professionals, we provide financial support to people with physical, mental, and psychological disabilities. Due to their impairments, generating an income is often difficult, if not impossible. There is no disability pension or reliable social insurance system. The practical assistance for affected individuals and their families includes the provision of food and medication. In certain cases, we support individuals with transportation for medical examinations or with the payment of health insurance. Often, due to illness-related unemployment, affected individuals are unable to pay for their children's school fees, which we then cover.

Continuing Education for Healthcare Professionals
To promote sustainability, we organize various training and educational programs for local medical staff. The focus is on improving the quality of care and medical services for people with disabilities. The medical staff is empowered through the provision of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. These programs are built upon the existing resources available locally.
Organization & Implementation of prevention days
We support institutions and organizations in organizing and implementing health or prevention days. The goal is to make people aware of various illnesses and disabilities and to act as a preventative measure. Such days also provide the opportunity to clarify questions, break down prejudices and talk openly about so-called taboo subjects such as AIDS/HIV. People can check their vital signs and blood sugar levels and get tested for illnesses such as AIDS/HIV or malaria.

School Integration for Children with Disabilities
In Kenya, children with physical disabilities often receive no government support. Families cannot afford medical aids such as wheelchairs. These children are often unable to attend school because their parents cannot cover transportation costs, required medical exams, necessary aids, and school fees. We support these children and their families both financially and organizationally to help them access the necessary evaluations. Additionally, we collaborate with local schools, social workers, and healthcare institutions to find a long-term solution and ensure access to education.
Implementation of Programs
Affected individuals and their families from disadvantaged backgrounds and remote areas in Kenya are often left alone with their disabilities, suffering, and impairments. They frequently lack knowledge about their condition. Relatives and family members usually do not know how to support their loved ones with simple means. Through training for family members and various programs, we aim to educate, encourage, and build connections for affected individuals and their families. The development of brochures on different disabilities and illnesses, tailored to the needs and circumstances of people in Kenya, in the official language Swahili with accompanying images, is part of this project.

Construction Projects
We support various construction projects financially and are involved in their development and implementation. The people affected benefit directly or indirectly from the construction projects. We work together with local institutions, construction companies and tradesmen.
We converted a local school to be barrier-free so that children in wheelchairs could attend school. This included building ramps and two wheelchair-accessible bathrooms.
For the organization Living Room International (LRI), we remodeled and expanded the laundry, storage room and nursing station. This created more space and improved the structure and organization of medical items and supplies. This in turn optimized the quality of patient care.
PhysioNet provided LRI with a container. We laid the foundation for it and built shelves inside for storing aids.
