A prosthetic leg for Robert

Updated: Mar 4

We recently had the pleasure of meeting 31-year-old Robert. He has two children and is a single parent. Four years ago, the former truck driver stepped on a nail. The wound initially went unnoticed due to a lack of sensory function caused by his diabetes. His foot became infected and had to be amputated. After the wound did not heal well, his leg was amputated above the knee. Since then, Robert has been using crutches. He tries to earn a small living for himself and his children by keeping chickens. He desperately wanted a prosthetic leg. A prosthetic leg would make his work easier and he would be better able to provide for his children. A prosthetic leg would also give him more freedom and dignity. Robert would never have been able to afford a prosthetic leg financially, even with the help of his family. Thanks to the support of donors, we were able to provide for him with a prosthetic leg.

When we told him the wonderful news, he went to the orthopedic surgeon in town that same day to have his measurements taken. He could hardly wait. He has had a prosthetic leg for a good two weeks now. He goes to physiotherapy three times a week and is making great progress. He now walks with just a cane. The goal is that one day he will be able to walk without any crutches at all. We are so grateful for your support. This prosthetic leg improves Robert's quality of life enormously. It gives him new hope and courage to be able to lead an independent life with dignity despite his disability. Thank you!

In order to make more projects like this possible, we need your support!
