Purity is a single mother of five children. She used to run a small tea shop until she became seriously ill and was unable to work for three months. Without any income, she lost her shop and was left with nothing but her children to care for. We first supported her with food. When she told us that she could sew, we provided her with a treadle sewing machine from Nairobi, which she can use without electricity. Today, Purity sews clothes and is able to generate an income for her family.

Baba Pius is 75 years old, married, and the father of ten children. Together with his wife, he cultivates a small piece of land where they grow maize – their only source of income.
