12-year-old Brighton had an accident while trying to climb a tree and has been paralyzed from the waist down ever since. Wheelchair accessible schools in Kenya are rare, which meant that Brighton would not have been able to continue attending school. This was unacceptable for our team. We therefore decided to convert the school in the village ( Brook of Faith Academy ) to be wheelchair accessible. Construction work on a barrier-free school started in April 2022. Ramps were installed and paths paved. In the boys' dormitory, a wall was completely demolished and a wheelchair-accessible bathroom was installed. Brighton has been racing around school in his wheelchair for two years. Brighton's mischievous smile and cheerful manner blow us away every time. We are so infinitely grateful that he can attend school thanks to you.
